Hire a Driver for Your Rental Moving Truck
You load. We drive.
You can handle the move without driving a large rental truck yourself. You rent the truck and arrange the loading and unloading. We provide an experienced, background-checked driver to take your loaded truck to your new home on a long-distance move.
You will know who is driving your truck before pickup. We give you planned pickup and delivery dates, connect you with your driver and our office, and keep you informed along the way. Your belongings stay in the same truck with one driver, without warehouse transfers.
Is this the right service for your move?
Our rental truck driver service is for people moving long distance who want to rent their own truck but do not want to drive it. You might be traveling with children or pets, starting a new job, helping a parent move, or simply uncomfortable driving a loaded 20- or 26-foot truck across several states.
We drive eligible rental moving trucks, with or without an approved Auto Transporter for a vehicle. We also help when a planned driver becomes unavailable partway through a move, subject to driver availability and the rental company’s requirements.
This is a driving service. Our drivers do not pack, load, or unload the truck. We do not carry passengers in the truck for liability reasons. If you need loading or unloading help, arrange local labor separately at each end of the move.
How it works
1. Tell us about your move
Request a quote with your pickup and delivery locations, preferred dates, truck size, and whether you will tow a vehicle. The instant quote is an estimate. We then review the details with you and prepare a Final Agreement showing the specific costs and payment schedule.
2. Rent the truck and arrange loading
You rent the moving truck in your name. You can load it yourself or hire loaders and unloaders. We coordinate the assigned driver’s travel and help you add the driver as a Primary or Additional Driver on the rental agreement. The rental agreement must remain in the truck.
3. Meet your driver before pickup
Before you commit under the Final Agreement, we provide your assigned driver’s name, phone number, email address, and images of the front and back of the driver’s license. We also share the driver’s biography. We start a group text with you, your driver, our office, and Frank about four days before pickup, so you can connect before moving day and stay informed through delivery. Once you pay the deposit, we can provide the driver’s background check.
4. We drive your truck to your destination
Your driver picks up the loaded truck at the agreed time, handles the long-distance drive, arranges overnight parking, and provides progress updates. At delivery, your unloading crew or helpers unload the truck. The driver does not load or unload.

What you arrange and what we handle
| You arrange | We handle |
|---|---|
| The rental truck and required rental-company protection | A vetted professional driver and the driver’s travel arrangements |
| Loading at pickup and unloading at delivery | The drive, planned stops, and overnight parking |
| An approved Auto Transporter if towing a vehicle | Communication with you throughout the drive |
| The rental agreement listing our driver | Driver details and the Final Agreement before the move |
For a U-Haul truck, we require SafeMove Plus and, when towing on a U-Haul Auto Transporter, Towing Insurance (TWI). For a Budget truck, we require the Complete Protection Package and, when towing, Auto Tow Protection (ATP). The exact rental-company arrangement must be approved before pickup. We do not tow vehicles on tow dollies.
If you are towing a car, confirm that the rental company approves the truck, Auto Transporter, and vehicle combination. The towed car must be empty, including the trunk, to reduce the risk of theft. Our driver needs its ignition key in case it must be moved or transferred during a roadside problem. The driver also needs the key to any cargo padlock.
What will it cost?
The cost depends on your route, truck size, dates, driver availability, travel arrangements, and whether you are towing. Your instant quote is an estimate; the Final Agreement states the costs for your particular move before you pay the deposit.
The deposit is nonrefundable and is paid by credit card. Payments due to the driver at pickup and delivery can be made by Zelle, wire transfer, cash, or cashier’s check. Credit cards are not accepted for those later payments. Estimated fuel and tolls are paid at pickup and settled against receipts at delivery. The Final Agreement also explains circumstances that can add costs, such as waiting time, a changed date, an extra hotel night, or additional driver transportation.
In most cases, the final price differs from the Final Agreement by no more than about $200. We explain any applicable adjustment and reconcile estimated fuel and tolls with actual receipts.
Questions people ask before hiring us
Can someone else drive my rental truck?
Yes, if the rental company permits the arrangement and the driver is properly added to the rental agreement. We help you complete that step before our driver takes the wheel.
Can I ride with the driver?
No. For liability reasons, we cannot carry clients or other passengers in the rental truck. You can travel separately while your driver brings the truck to your destination.
Do your drivers load or unload?
No. You arrange loading and unloading, either yourself or with local helpers. Our driver’s job is to transport the truck safely.
Will I know who my driver is?
Yes. You receive the driver’s identity and contact information before committing under the Final Agreement, and we connect you through a group text before pickup.
How long will delivery take?
Your schedule depends on distance, traffic, weather, road conditions, and required rest. We provide planned pickup and delivery dates for your move. Our drivers typically plan for about 550 to 600 miles on a full driving day when conditions allow, while following applicable driving-hour limits.
