Jaimie Harvey: A Journey Through Real Estate and Auction Services A Photo of Jaimie Harvey: And her Journey Through Real Estate and Auction Services

Jaimie Harvey began her real estate career by buying and selling homes. She invested in rental properties, fixed them up, and flipped them for profit.

After gaining hands-on experience, Jaimie obtained her real estate license. Shortly after, her husband, Wayne, joined her in the industry. The two worked side by side for a while before Wayne pursued and earned his broker’s license.

In addition to real estate, Wayne is also an auctioneer. Together, they auction off real estate, farm equipment, machinery, and other valuable assets.

Jaimie and Wayne have their hands in many aspects of real estate. They own United Country Real Estate | JW Realty & Auction Services, a franchise in Southeast Texas. The business originally started in Hardin County and has expanded its reach, now handling listings from Crystal Beach all the way up to North Dallas. Though they continue to maintain a strong presence in Southeast Texas, with agents actively serving clients there, their footprint has significantly grown.

JW Realty & Auction Services now covers Decatur, North Dallas, and even out-of-state areas, specializing in farm and ranch properties—land that isn’t typical in Dallas suburbs. In today’s market, buyers seeking large-acreage properties must look beyond Dallas, often traveling north, east, or west toward areas like Greenville.

Their typical clientele consists of landowners looking to sell large parcels, farms, and ranches. When property owners contact Jaimie and her team, they focus on maximizing the value of the land, ensuring it sells for its highest and best use.

Sometimes, the most profitable strategy involves subdividing the land into smaller tracts. While Jaimie prefers to preserve large, beautiful plots, she understands that if breaking it up brings the landowner the highest return, then that’s the best course of action.

Over the years, they’ve also built new construction homes and worked with builders. However, their primary focus remains on the sales side of real estate. Although they haven’t yet partnered with major developers like D.R. Horton or Lennar, Jaimie believes in keeping doors open—never say never.

The Changing Real Estate Market

The real estate market has undergone significant changes, particularly since the COVID-19 pandemic. During that period, many people made substantial financial gains and sought to leave city life behind in favor of rural living.

“Our business thrived during and after COVID because rural land was in high demand, ” Jaimie explained. “Even today, that niche continues to be a driving force in Texas real estate.”However, 2024 brought new challenges. As interest rates climbed, the market slowed significantly. Homeowners with 3% mortgage rates weren’t eager to sell unless they absolutely had to. As a result, inventory stagnated, and the market saw fewer buyers and sellers.

In September, the Federal Reserve made a rate adjustment, temporarily lowering interest rates. This led to a brief spike in home sales, but the relief was short-lived—rates quickly rose again, and the market cooled once more. “People were hesitant,” Jaimie noted. “Many wanted to wait until after the election to see how the new administration would affect the economy before making any real estate moves.”

Now, in 2025, the market is showing signs of life again. “The phones are ringing,” Jaimie said optimistically. “I believe we’re on an upward trajectory, but it will take time for affordability to return. ” Housing prices need to adjust, she explained, as the average buyer can no longer afford a home on a single income. “It takes two incomes just to get by today.

Hopefully, we’ll see some level of affordability return soon.” Jaimie also believes that having a businessman in office—one with extensive real estate experience—could make a difference. “Trump is real estate. He built much of his wealth in real estate, so I don’t think he’ll sit back and let the market crash without taking action.”
